Rebecca Anderson (Madame Rebecca) is the owner and a teacher at Old Town French, LLC. She has her BA in French and Biology and MA in French and is state-certified to teach French and English as a Second Language (ESL) to Pre-K through 12th grades. She has taught French to children ages 1-18 years old for 25 years. Presently, she is teaching French to high schoolers in Fairfax County Public Schools. She is a mother of three enfants!
Elaena Amans-Lucas has been baking most of her life, and has been surrounded by French for longer. She has made a wide variety of French pâtisserie throughout her life, with her favorites being île flottante and pain au chocolat. Teaching kids how to bake and passing down the tips and tricks she has learned throught the years brings her great joy. Although she is going to North Virginia Community College to start her degree in Psychology, her dream is to own and operate a bakery.
Gretta Anderson is a rising junior at University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she is majoring in Political Science and French. She is also a Division 1 rower for UMass Women's Crew. She is fluent in French and is an intermediate speaker of German. She attended the prestigious Virginia French Governor's School where motivated and talented world language students from all over Virginia participate in intense language and culture study for 3 weeks, while being required to only speak, read, write and listen to French. In her free time, she enjoys baking, biking and visiting museums.
Wesley Anderson is a rising senior at Alexandria City High School (ACHS). He is an advanced speaker in French. In addition, he plays football for ACHS Titans and does shot put for their track & field team. Wesley has many years of experience baking in French. He enjoys travelling, watching and playing sports during his free time.
Molly French is 17, and has loved baking (and eating) pastries since she was young. She’s going into 12th grade, and has been studying French and working with kids since 8th grade. Molly is looking forward to camp!
Hi my name is Natalie and I am a rising junior in high school at ACHS. I am in a Girl Scout troop with a bunch of my close friends and we often go camping and traveling together. During the school year, I do ballet and go skiing with my family. I first got into baking by making my family’s traditional birthday cake (it’s delicious!). When I started French class in 6th grade, I was gifted a couple French pastry and cookbooks. I love experimenting with new and different recipes I come across in the kitchen. I was a camper at French baking camp when I was 12 years old and am excited to bake with everyone again.
Harper Sweet is a rising sophomore at Alexandria City High School (ACHS). She has been studying French for 4 years and plans to continue throughout high school. In middle school, she took part in a French exchange program where she resided with a French family in Caen, France for two weeks. She is currently part of the marching band and swim team at ACHS.
Je m’appelle Nicolas Ries. J’ai 18 ans et dans la prochaine année, je vais aller étudier au Eastman School of Music en performance de trombone. J’adore toutes les formes de musique. J’aime aussi la pêche, la randonnée en plein air et le football! J’adore particulièrement cuisiner avec ma famille. Ma mère qui est canadienne française m’a appris à apprécié la cusine depuis que je suis tout petit.
